Why Are
Parents Choosing Competitive Edge Karate?
The Teaching of True Values
A Message from Kyoshi Roger Dabney
1.
What Makes Us
Different?
Most martial arts programs promise to build
respect, self–esteem and self-discipline in their
students.
CEK takes that commitment farther and presents the
parents and students with a program specifically
designed to guide the students in mastering skills of
living, as they master the techniques of martial arts.
The program presents the principles behind the
ideas, not mere lists of easy-to-forget rules.
2.
How CEK’s Belt
Program Builds Confidence:
As a student learns and master new skills, they
will feel better about themselves and their abilities.
As they persevere to perfect a technique that at
first seems impossible, they feel proud of themselves
when they achieve their goal.
Every time they
achieve a new belt level, they gain confidence in their
ability to grow, improve and succeed.
3.
Why High Energy
Classes Help With Achieving High Self-Esteem:
Low self-esteem is common in both adults and
children.
Having low self-esteem is like being unhealthy, and it
takes away from your energy, strength and decreases our
enjoyment of life. CEK
wants every class to be a positive and enjoyable
experience for each student.
A healthy self-esteem is essential to a happy
life and a necessary foundation to achieving success.
4.
Unearned
Achievements Don’t Result In Self-Confidence.
“Skills
are Learned and Belts are Earned” is our motto.
The
passing grade that’s given just to make the student feel
good. The
trophy that’s awarded despite the fact the athlete
didn’t try.
The karate belt that’s handed over so the child won’t
feel bad.
These are not achievements; and, they don’t lead to
self-confidence.
They are unearned awards and lead to confusion or
to a lifelong expectation of handouts.
5 .
Helping Students
Reach Their Personal Goals.
Parents, at CEK we won’t let children fall
through the cracks if they are legitimately putting
great effort into our program.
We will work hard with any and all students who
are struggling to achieve their goals.
But we
won’t work for them.
